94 Will is a power run out of Pistol Weak I Wing, designed to hit off tackle to the strong side (the numbered gap 9-hole/Will side). The fullback and wing lead through the hole for the running back, with the offensive line executing a power scheme that pulls a backside blocker to seal the point of attack. This is a base run play with no play-action or passing option attached, built to move the pile downhill and control tempo against base fronts.
Watch linebacker depth and alignment before the snap: stacked or crashing linebackers signal they are keying the run fit and will try to beat your fullback lead block to the hole. This play struggles against gap-sound 46 or Bear fronts that load the box with extra defenders since the lead blocker gets outnumbered at the point of attack. Look for the strong side defensive end and outside linebacker; if they squeeze down hard and stay disciplined, the cutback lane behind the pulling blocker becomes the answer instead of forcing it outside. User-controlled defenders flowing hard downhill pre-snap are the biggest threat since they can blow up the fullback lead before it seals the edge, so patience on the handoff read matters. Against single high safety looks with the strong safety cheating into the box, expect the extra run defender to be the primary threat and be ready to cut inside the wing block if he overcommits outside.
Run this on early downs (1st and 10 or 2nd and short) when you have single high safety looks or the defense shows a base 4-3 or 3-4 front. Check the box count pre-snap: if the defense has six or fewer defenders in the box, this play has favorable numbers for the power scheme to work. Use motion or a shift if available to identify if the defense adjusts, which tips man versus zone run fits. Pair 94 Will with HB Power O and Counter Weak from the same set to keep defenders guessing on which gap the lead blocker attacks, since all three punish overpursuing linebackers. Once the defense starts crashing hard to stop the off tackle run, sequence into PA Power O or PA TE Slide to attack the play-action window created by your run tendency.
