Blitz Loop Sim 3 is a simulated pressure package out of the 3-3 Swap Dbl Mug alignment in Nickel personnel. Pre-snap the defense shows a double mug look at the second level to threaten a house call, then drops into a Cover 3 shell behind a loop blitz that sends an exchange rusher off the edge while a second level defender loops underneath to disguise the pressure lane. The primary read for the defense is the quarterback's eyes: identify whether the offense is hot to the blitz side, then trust the loop rusher to contain the pocket while the three deep defenders take away vertical shots and force the underneath throw into the sim pressure's rally lanes.
Watch the running back release, if he stays in to chip or check release into the loop lane, sit your user defender there to blow up screens and RPO throws. Key the quarterback's presnap motion adjustments, if the offense slides protection toward the mug side they are respecting the pressure, so bail early into your zone drop to take away the hot throw. This call is strong against man beater route combos like slants and drags since the underneath loop defender sits right in those throwing lanes. It gets exposed by quick game concepts like stick and flat routes to the opposite hash from the loop, so if you see a bunch or trips set away from the mug side, be ready to sink your flat defender immediately. Against play-action rollouts, the loop rusher must stay disciplined and not overrun the edge, since a contained quarterback with a rollout fake can escape the pocket if the loop defender crashes too far inside.
Show the double mug look for a full presnap count to bait the quarterback into thinking a full blitz is coming, then let the sim pressure and Cover 3 shell play out behind it.
Use this call on third and medium to third and long when quarterbacks are hot routing into quick game beaters, since the disguised coverage takes away sight adjust throws.
Motion check the offense before the snap, if you see the running back or tight end flare out to the loop side, be ready to spy or widen your loop rusher so he does not get isolated on a chip block.
Pair this call with SS Sim 2 and Cover 3 Match earlier in a series so the double mug presnap picture looks identical, then mix in Blitz Loop Sim 3 to punish quarterbacks who key personnel and coverage shell too early.
Manually control the looping second level defender so you can react to draw plays or delayed check downs, since a user controlled rusher makes the fake blitz far more disruptive than letting the CPU AI run the loop.
