Full House Tight is the most condensed alignment in the Full House family, packing 32 personnel (three backs, two tight ends) into a compressed box with the fullback and two halfbacks stacked behind the quarterback and both tight ends attached tight to the tackles. Where wider Full House sets stretch a tight end or wing off the line to create natural flat leverage, Tight keeps every eligible receiver inside the numbers, which forces the defense to either stack the box with 8 or 9 in the run fit or stay in base personnel and get outnumbered at the point of attack. That compression is the entire point: there is no natural horizontal spacing, so defenses have to declare their run fit pre-snap and you get a clean read on whether the safeties are rotating down.
The personnel group gives you a legitimate two-way threat off the same alignment. Power O, Counter Lead, HB Slam, and HB Sweep let you pull a guard and lead with the fullback into a gap the defense cannot fill without vacating the second level, and the pass game is built almost entirely on play action off those same run looks. PA Ctr Waggle, PA Post, PA Dig Wheels, and PA Power O all sell the downhill run action before releasing tight ends and backs into voided intermediate windows. Because there are no split receivers, defenses in Cover 3 and Cover 4 end up with corners covering grass on the boundary while your tight ends work the seams and hooks against linebackers and safeties.
The matchup advantage comes from isolation by subtraction. When you motion a back out or hot route a tight end on a corner or wheel, that receiver is frequently matched on a linebacker or a strong safety with no help nearby because the defense committed numbers to the box. Curl Y Corner is the money non play action concept here, giving you a high low on the flat defender with the tight end working the corner route against overloaded man coverage. PA Dig Wheels is the vertical answer, pairing an intermediate dig with a back releasing on a wheel that punishes any defender who bites on the run fake.
Use this set on first and second down and in short yardage or goal line situations where the defense has to respect the run, then punish the rotated safety with PA Post or PA Dig Wheels once you have established Power O and Counter Lead.
Read the safeties before the snap: two high means run it with HB Sweep or Counter Lead to attack the lighter box, single high with a rotating safety means play action into the vacated intermediate window.
Motion a halfback out wide pre-snap to identify man versus zone, then hot route a tight end on a corner or a back on a wheel to isolate that matchup against a linebacker with no help.
Always give yourself an outlet before the snap on play action calls: hot route the second back to a flat or drag so you have a dump off when the defense brings pressure through the interior.
Curl Y Corner is your best call against Cover 2 and man coverage looks, and it works well as a change up after a series of downhill runs because the flat defender will be squeezing hard on the tight end release.
