Cover 3 Cloud Show 2 is a disguised zone coverage out of the 3-3-5 Over Wide set that shows a two-high shell pre-snap before rotating down into a Cover 3 Cloud look at the snap. The cornerback to the cloud side sinks into a hard flat and half read while the deep safety rotates over the top, giving you three deep defenders and four underneath with the corner triggering fast on flat and quick game routes. This is a zone beater disguise for the defense meant to bait quarterbacks into throwing hitches, curls, and flat routes into a defender who is already leveraged to jump the throw, and the primary read for the defense is quarterback eyes to flat, then work back to the deep third responsibility if the flat route does not develop.
Read the quarterback eyes at the snap, if he looks flat immediately trust the cloud corner leverage and close on the throw Check safety depth pre-snap, if both safeties are sitting at 10 to 12 yards showing two-high the offense likely believes this is Cover 2 or Cover 4 and will attack accordingly Watch for smash concepts and corner routes since the rotating deep safety must get over the top in time, late rotation leaves a window on the deep outside third This coverage is vulnerable to spot concepts and stick routes that attack the seam vacated by the rotating safety, and to quick slants that beat the flat defender before he can undercut the route Man beaters with a receiver working across the field horizontally can exploit the underneath zone spacing if the linebackers do not sink quickly enough into their landmarks
Show the two-high shell as long as possible before the snap so the quarterback commits to a Cover 2 or Cover 4 beater concept instead of a true Cover 3 answer
Bait quick game and flat concepts on early downs, this disguise is most effective on first and second down when offenses are working through pre-snap coverage identification and settling for underneath completions
Use your user-controlled defender on the cloud corner to jump the flat or quick out route since the coverage shell already leverages that throw
Pair this call with Cover 3 Sky and Cover 6 in the same set so your shell disguises look identical presnap, forcing the offense to guess between a true two-high rotation and a cloud rotation
