Cover 2 Man is a hybrid coverage out of the 3-3-5 Over Wide set that pairs man coverage underneath with two deep half safeties over the top. The five defenders in man technique blanket receivers and running backs on a hard press or trail basis while the two safeties sit deep, splitting the field to erase go routes and deep crossers. This is a zone-man hybrid built to shut down man beater route combos like slants and outs while still respecting the deep shot play, and the primary read progression starts with the deep half safeties confirming no receiver has leaked past the underneath defenders before flowing to help on any receiver winning their man matchup.
