Overview
NFL Live Rams Defense is functionally the same book as Rams Defense. The two cuts share all 337 plays and differ by zero sets, so every formation, coverage and pressure you lab in one carries straight over to the other. Pick whichever label your menu defaults to and don't expect any schematic difference. At 337 plays across 9 formations and 22 sets, it sits near the middle of the 64 defensive team playbooks in size (larger than 48% of them), so its identity comes from how the plays are weighted rather than raw volume.
That weighting is heavily toward sub packages. Nickel carries 123 plays (36%) across 6 sets, and Dime adds 72 plays (21%) across 3 sets, so 57% of the book puts five or more defensive backs on the field. The 3-4 is the primary base look at 63 plays (19%) across 5 sets. Behind it sit a 3-3-5 set (21 plays), a 2-4-5 set (18 plays), Quarter (15 plays), Goal Line Defense (13 plays over 3 sets), and single sets of 4-3 and Prevent at 6 plays each. Personnel groups range from Big Nickel 4-2-5 and 5-1-5 to Big Dime 4-1-6, Nickel 2-4-5, Base 3-4 and Big Quarter 3-1-7, so you can match most offensive personnel without leaving the book.
The game plan is a pass-first, disguise-heavy defense that lives in single-high and match coverage. The concept list centers on Cover 1, Cover 3, Cover 3 Match, Cover 4 and Quarters, backed by Corner Blitz, LB Blitz and Double Wr1 or Double Wr2 brackets for taking away a top target. Sample calls like Cover 1 Hole, Cov 1 QB Contain Spy, 3 DBL Mable Cloud, 3 Deep Blitz and Corner Blitz 2 show the mix: man with a robber, spy looks for mobile quarterbacks, and cloud-rotated Cover 3 with pressure layered on top. It is built for opponents who spread you out and throw, not for teams that want to line up heavy and win in the trenches.
Scheme Fit
NFL Live Rams Defense wants a deep secondary with at least three quality corners and a rangy safety who can play single-high or robber, because the majority of the book puts five or six defensive backs on the field in man and match coverage. Up front it rewards an interior pass rusher and edge players who can win one-on-one out of odd fronts, plus a sideline-to-sideline linebacker who can hold up in Dime. Pick it if you like to play coverage and disguise against spread passing attacks, and pass on it if you prefer heavy 4-3 base fronts and stacking the box.

Strengths
- With 195 Nickel and Dime plays across 9 sets, you can stay in sub personnel almost every down and still show a different front and coverage shell, which makes spread and 11 personnel offenses hard to read pre-snap.
- Six Nickel sets plus Big Nickel 4-2-5 and 5-1-5 groupings let you answer 12 personnel without subbing to base, keeping your coverage defenders on the field while still adding size near the box.

- The 3-4 carries 63 plays across 5 sets, giving you a real base package with LB Blitz and Corner Blitz pressure that pairs with the 3-3-5 and 2-4-5 sets for creative overload and nano blitz setups off odd fronts.
Weaknesses
- The 4-3 is nearly absent at 6 plays in a single set, so players who like even-front base defense or four-down-linemen run fits in base personnel have very little to work with.
- Heavy run offenses can key on the sub-package lean: when 57% of the book is Nickel and Dime, opponents in 21 or 22 personnel will try to force you into lighter boxes or into the smaller 3-4 and Goal Line pools.
- Goal Line Defense has only 13 plays across 3 sets, which limits variety inside the five and makes your short-yardage calls easier to predict over a long series.
- Cover 2 and Cover 0 families are not among the listed concepts, so offenses that attack Cover 3 and Quarters seams, flats and curl windows face fewer two-high, two-deep rotations to throw them off.
- Prevent and Quarter together total just 21 plays, so end-of-half and two-minute drill looks can get stale against an opponent who has seen your Quarter set a few times.
Usage Tips
Build your base audible package around Nickel for first and second down against 11 personnel, keeping Cover 1 Hole and a Cover 3 Match call on the list so you can flip between man and match zone after seeing the offense's alignment.
On third and 6 or longer, reach for Dime and its Double Wr1 or Double Wr2 brackets to take away the opponent's primary target, then user the deep middle or a robber so the bracket does the heavy lifting underneath.
Against mobile quarterbacks on passing downs, audible to Cov 1 QB Contain Spy in the Quarter set, and in long-yardage two-minute spots mix it with the Prevent set so the quarterback can't settle into one read.
When the offense subs to 21 or 12 personnel on early downs or third and short, move to the 3-4 sets and use LB Blitz and Corner Blitz calls like Corner Blitz 2, shifting linebackers and pinching the line to overload the strong side.
Use the 3-3-5 set (3 Deep Blitz) and the 2-4-5 set as change-up pressure on second and medium, since their odd alignments disguise where the fourth and fifth rusher are coming from compared to your standard Nickel shells.
