Field Goal Block Right is a defensive special teams set inside the Special formation, not an offensive personnel grouping, and that distinction matters for how you use it. Where Field Goal Block Left mirrors the pressure to the opposite edge and the standard Field Goal Block set spreads bodies evenly across the line, Field Goal Block Right overloads the right side of the formation with extra rushers and jumpers aimed at the kicking team's weak protection edge. Personnel is listed as None because Madden auto-populates the unit with your best special teams block-shedding bodies, typically edge defenders and linebackers with high Block Shedding and Jumping ratings, plus tall interior players positioned to get hands up at the point of attack.
The alignment is what creates the matchup advantage here. By stacking numbers to the right, you force the kicking team's wing and outside protector to handle a two-on-one or three-on-two situation, which is exactly the leverage you need on longer attempts where the operation time is already stretched. Field Goal Block Right also matters against opponents who run fake field goals, because the heavy right side compresses the rollout lane on that side and pushes any fake pass or run action back into your unblocked contain player.
The three plays in the set give you a clear risk ladder. Load Block Right is the aggressive call that commits maximum bodies to the right edge for the highest block probability. Base Block Right is the balanced option that still slants right but keeps assignment integrity against fakes. Safe Man Right adds coverage responsibility on the right side, which is your call when you suspect a fake field goal pass to the wing or holder. Choosing correctly between those three based on distance, time remaining, and opponent tendency is the entire strategic value of this set.
Save Load Block Right for attempts of 45 yards or longer where flatter trajectory and stretched operation time actually give the overload a chance to matter.
Call Safe Man Right any time the situation screams fake, meaning fourth and short in field goal range, a trailing opponent late, or an opponent who has already shown fake tendency in the series.
Default to Base Block Right when you have no read, since it preserves contain while still creating right side leverage and will not get gashed by a designed fake.
User control an interior body rather than the edge rusher, get your hands up at the snap, and avoid jumping early since an early leave concedes your gap entirely.
Watch the pre-snap look for a heavy wing set or an unusual holder alignment, both of which are common tells for a fake, and check to Safe Man Right before the snap.
