Breakdown

RPO Peek Cheat Wrap Go is a run pass option out of Shotgun Split Close Pro that pairs an inside zone look with a wrap block scheme up front while the backside receiver releases vertically on a go route and the slot runs a peek concept designed to give the quarterback a pre-snap number or leverage read. This is a true RPO, meaning the quarterback keys the box count and linebacker flow before deciding to hand off or pull and throw the peek or go. The primary read progression starts with the run key on the second level defender, moves to the peek route if that defender crashes down, and finishes with the go route as the explosive shot play if the defense sells out on the run or leaves the corner without deep help.

Defensive Reads

Watch the play side linebacker at the snap, if he steps up to fill the run fit immediately pull the ball and hit the peek route behind him Identify single high versus two high safety shells before the snap, two high alignments often signal the offense should stick with the run since deep help limits the go route ceiling Track the corner's press or off alignment on the go route side, soft coverage with a deep half safety shuts down the vertical shot but press man with no safety help is a green light to throw it Look for user controlled defenders flying downhill on the mesh point since a jumped run read from a user linebacker or safety is exactly what triggers the pull and throw on the peek Beware of blitz packages that bring extra defenders off the edge, since a well timed nano blitz can disrupt the quarterback's read before he decides run or pass, so quick decisiveness at the mesh point is critical

Usage Tips

Check the box count before the snap and count defenders in the box against your offensive line plus lead blockers to decide run versus pass before the ball is even snapped

If the defense shows a single high safety with the corner playing tight to the line, prioritize the go route since that usually means no deep help over the top

Use motion to identify man versus zone coverage, if the defender follows across the formation you are likely facing man coverage which favors the peek route against a trailing defender

Pair this play with Inside Zone Split and RPO Zone Peek in the same set so the defense cannot key on run or pass tendencies out of this personnel and formation

Save the go route shot for third and manageable or second and short situations when defenses are more likely to bring an extra man into the box, leaving the corner isolated on an island
