Cheat FB Power O is a gap scheme run play out of Shotgun Split Close Pro with 21 personnel, using motion across the formation before the snap to adjust the box count. The blocking scheme pulls the backside guard around to lead through the hole while the fullback leads up into the alley, creating a numbers advantage at the point of attack for the ball carrier. This is not a pass concept, the two routes shown (a corner route and a deep out breaking upfield) are window dressing to hold defenders and widen run support rather than actual read progressions. The primary read is the interior gap, hit the hole downhill and follow the pulling lineman, bouncing outside off the fullback's block if the defense flows too far inside.
Watch the linebacker depth before the snap, stacked linebackers sitting tight to the line signal a run blitz that can beat the pulling guard to the hole. Key the safety rotation after motion, if both safeties stay deep in a two high shell the box is lighter and this run has room to work. Identify the strong side defensive end and 3-technique alignment, if they are shaded to take away the power gap you need to be ready to bounce outside off the fullback's kick block. Look for a linebacker sitting in the alley reading the pulling guard, an aggressive user controlled defender flowing hard downhill can blow this play up before the fullback gets a block. This run struggles against gap sound fronts with a true nose and heavy defensive tackle alignment clogging the interior, since the pulling lineman has no clean lane to the second level.
Use the pre-snap motion to identify if the defense is in man or zone, if a defender follows the motion man across the formation you are facing man coverage and the box is likely to shift.
Check the box count before the snap, if the defense has six or fewer in the box this play has a numbers advantage and should hit for solid yardage.
Run this on early downs in run heavy personnel packages to keep the defense honest and set up play action shots later in the drive.
Pair this with PA Cheat Wrap Cross or PA Cheat Wheel Post from the same set since they share the same formation and motion look, forcing linebackers to respect the run before selling out on pass drops.
Avoid calling this against defenses showing heavy blitz looks with extra defenders crashing the line pre-snap, since the pulling lineman will struggle to get a clean track to the second level.
