Watch linebacker depth at the snap, if they scrape hard playside without respecting cutback, sit back and read the backside cutback lane developing behind the zone blockers. User-controlled defenders flowing too fast to string the play out wide leave the interior cutback lane wide open, so patience as the ball carrier beats aggressive user pursuit. This run struggles against gap-sound fronts with a dedicated backside contain player like a 3-4 defense with disciplined edge setters, since it removes the cutback option. Stacked boxes with eight defenders or a run blitz called to the weak side shut this down quickly, so check the defensive alignment and audible to a pass concept if the numbers are unfavorable.

Check the box count before the snap and only run this into light boxes with six or fewer defenders in the frontside run fit.
