6-2 is the heaviest look inside Goal Line Defense, fielding six defensive linemen, two linebackers, and three defensive backs. Where other goal line sets thin out the front to add coverage bodies, 6-2 commits everything to gap integrity at the point of attack. Six hands in the dirt means every interior gap is accounted for pre-snap, and the two linebackers are free to fill downhill rather than plug A gaps. The NT tag matters here: your best nose tackle anchored over the center is what makes this set eat single-back dive, QB sneak, and inside zone from tight personnel.
Save 6-2 for third and fourth down inside the two yard line or with under a yard to gain, when the offense is in goal line, jumbo, or I Form heavy personnel.
Read the offensive formation before you commit: if they show two or more receivers to a side or empty backfield, get out of 6-2 and back to a base nickel or dime look.
Call 60 Pinch when you read the QB under center with tight splits, because it takes away the sneak and the center gap entirely.
User the free linebacker, not a lineman, and sit at the goal line so you can jump the play side gap on run or break on a TE flat route.
Pinch and crash the line pre-snap on obvious sneak downs, then shift back and spread if the offense motions out to force a coverage answer.
Mix in Base and the Out calls so you are not showing the same all out run front every short yardage snap, since experienced opponents will fade or corner route you once they diagnose the look.
