Defensive Reads

Zone shells with a flowing Mike or Will linebacker get gashed by the run if the alert read stays home. Watch for user controlled defenders sitting in the shallow flat as a lurk threat, since that is the primary counter to the swing alert read.
Usage Tips
Key the flow of the second level defenders before the snap to decide whether you will keep the ball on the ground or pull and throw. If linebackers are sitting flat footed or showing run blitz fits, throw the swing route immediately for a easy access completion. If the second level flows hard to the run action, pull and hit the swing man in space against a light box. Use this on early downs in run heavy personnel to keep defenses honest and set up the play action shots later in the set like PA F Slide or Mtn PA Switch Sail.
