RPO Buck Alert Bubble is a run-pass option out of Shotgun Normal Wing Pats Close that gives the quarterback a pre-snap alert bubble screen to the slot along with an inside zone run look. The offensive line executes zone blocking to the play side while the slot receiver sits on a bubble route as the built-in throw option, making this an RPO that punishes light boxes and overaggressive flow to the run. The primary read progression starts with the pre-snap key on the alert defender (usually a slot corner or overhang linebacker), then post-snap the QB reads box count and linebacker flow: if the defender assigned to the bubble crashes down or the box is heavy, pull and throw the bubble; if the box is light and the alert defender sits, hand off the run.

Identify the alert defender pre-snap by checking who lines up over the slot receiver responsible for the bubble, this tells you who the QB is keying post-snap
Use this play on early downs or short-yardage situations where defenses are likely to load the box against the run, since that instantly triggers the bubble throw
If the defense shows a two high shell with a soft slot corner playing off, favor pulling the ball and running inside zone since the numbers favor the run
