Nickel 2 Trap is a Tampa 2 style zone coverage call out of the Swap Dbl Mug look in Nickel 4-2-5 personnel. The two safeties trap the deep halves while the linebackers and nickel corner sink into underneath zones, with the defensive line showing a mugged pressure look pre-snap before dropping into coverage. Your primary read starts with the deep middle safety trapping any vertical seam or crosser, then works down to the underneath zone defenders squeezing out routes and shallow crossers.
