Inside Veer Triple Opt is a true triple option run play out of the Flexbone that reads the defensive line and second level to determine the ball carrier. The QB reads the first defender inside the tackle box to decide whether to hand off to the dive back, then reads the next unblocked defender off the edge to decide whether to keep it himself or pitch to the trailing back. This is a run-heavy scheme play, not a man or zone beater in the passing sense, and it exploits aggressive fits and overcommitted linebackers by making defenders wrong no matter which option they crash.
Check the alignment of the play side defensive end pre-snap, if he is sitting wide and reading rather than crashing hard he is likely being coached to force a pitch read the CPU may fumble. Look for overloaded fronts or bear fronts since these formations often leave the perimeter thin and turn the pitch phase into a big play. Watch linebacker fills after the snap, if the backers flow hard downhill on the dive fake without honoring the QB keep or pitch lane you can gash them with the keeper. Man coverage on the perimeter with no extra flat defender is a green light to pull the ball and attack the edge. Disciplined defenses that keep an unblocked spy on the QB and a secondary defender sitting on the pitch key will shut this down, so avoid forcing the option into a defense that is clearly playing assignment football with a dedicated option responsibility defender.
Attack defenses that show a light box or a single high safety since the numbers advantage on the perimeter makes the pitch phase deadly. Watch linebacker depth before the snap, if the backers are crowding the line of scrimmage you want to ride the dive read longer and let them get sealed. Use manual control on the QB after the snap so you can accelerate the option reads yourself instead of waiting on the CPU logic, this speeds up decision making against fast-flowing defenses. Pair this with Midline Triple and Midline Read Iso in the same drive to keep second level defenders guessing about which gap the dive action is hitting. Best called on early downs or short yardage where defenses are more likely to sell out against the run and leave the edge vulnerable to the pitch key.
