Load Block Left is a field goal block special teams play designed to overload the left side of the offensive line's protection with extra rushers. This is not a route concept or coverage assignment, it is a pressure package built to collapse the edge and get penetration up the middle or off the left tackle before the kicker's timing window closes. The primary read is simple: identify which gap the offensive line leaves softest and send your rushers there, prioritizing the left edge and A-gap push to disrupt the snap-to-kick timing.
Look at the number of blockers aligned on the kicking team's left side before the snap, a lighter box there signals this play will hit clean. Watch the long snapper's head and shoulder lean, some snapping animations tip which direction protection will slide. Key the gap between the last blocker and the edge, if it widens after the snap that is your rush lane to attack. If the offense shows a max protect look with extra bodies stacked left, this play loses value and you should switch to a middle rush concept instead. Post-snap, track your user rusher's leverage against the first blocker, winning that initial hand fight determines whether you get a hand on the kick or arrive too late.
Use Load Block Left when you scout that the opposing offensive line struggles with edge protection or leaves the left side thin on personnel.
Pre-snap, check the long snapper's protection scheme and count blockers on the left side before committing your rush lanes.
Pair this with Base Block Left earlier in a game to condition the offense into expecting a standard rush, then bring Load Block Left on a critical fourth down or two-minute drill field goal attempt for the surprise overload.
If the CPU or opponent shows extra protection on the left after seeing this play once, switch to Safe Man Left to bait them into a false sense of security before returning to Load Block Left later in the game.
Time your user-controlled rusher's jump to the snap count, since early movement will draw a penalty and kill the block attempt entirely.
