Blitz Loop Sim 3 is a simulated pressure package out of the Nickel Load Dbl Mug set that shows a mugged look at the second level before bailing into a Cover 3 shell. The diagram shows both mugged defenders looping off the edges into a line stunt through the interior gaps while the defensive linemen cross underneath them, creating a simulated four man rush that disguises where the real pressure originates. Behind the stunt, the two outside cornerbacks and the deep third defenders drop into Cover 3 zone drops, with the underneath linebackers reading run/pass while sinking into their zone landmarks. This is a zone based blitz beater designed to look like pressure pre-snap while actually rushing only four, so the primary read for the defense is contain the quarterback off the loop stunt first, then trust the zone drops to cover intermediate and deep throws.
Pre-snap, check both safeties for a two high or single high shell, since a rotation down to one deep safety confirms the Cover 3 drop is coming and tips the offense to attack the flat to hook seams instead of throwing deep. Watch the mugged linebackers at the snap, if they loop outside instead of crashing inside it signals contain rush responsibility, which opens up draws and delayed runs up the middle if the offense recognizes it fast enough. Key the cornerbacks at the snap, if they open up and run their deep third zone drop immediately rather than pressing, quick hitters and speed outs underneath will be there before the zone fully sets. This call beats man beater route combos and quick game concepts because of the disguised zone shell, but it can be exposed by rollout play-action or RPOs that attack the vacated interior gap left by the looping defenders before the stunt closes. Post-snap, track the interior defensive line stunt, if the offensive line picks up the exchange cleanly the rush gets home slower, so any deep in-cuts or crossers sitting behind the second level become live throwing windows for a patient quarterback.
Show the double mug look pre-snap to bait the offense into checking to a hot route or quick game beater, then drop into the Cover 3 shell at the snap to sit on those quick throws.
User the looping defender on the play side you expect the quarterback to roll toward, since the simulated stunt creates natural contain if you control the loop correctly and stay square in your rush lane.
Pair this call with Blitz Loop 0 and Blitz Loop 3 in the same set so opponents cannot key on the mugged pre-snap picture and guess whether you are bringing five, six, or dropping into a sim pressure look.
Use this on early downs or second and medium when opponents are likely to run play-action, since the underneath zone drops and deep thirds stay disciplined against the boot and take away the flood concepts.
Avoid this call against heavy shotgun spread empty formations, since the simulated four man rush gives the quarterback extra time to find seams against the zone if he holds the ball and climbs the pocket.
