PA Waggle out of the I Form Wing Over set sells the HB Sweep and HB Stretch action from this same set before the quarterback rolls out to the play side. The tight end and backside receiver work as the primary flood concept, with the TE releasing to the flat and a receiver working a deep out or corner route to stretch the defense horizontally and vertically. This is a play-action pass built to punish aggressive run fits, and the primary read progression starts with the flat route underneath, then climbs to the intermediate breaking route if the flat defender sits, with the backside dig or crosser as the final checkdown against zone drops.
Identify single high versus two high pre-snap. Single high (Cover 3 or Cover 1) leaves the flat and intermediate routes open since the flat defender has to honor run fits first. Watch the play side linebacker at the snap. If he crashes hard on the run fake, the flat route is wide open immediately for an easy pitch and catch. Cover 2 shells with a hard flat defender sitting on the route can shut this down, so be ready to progress to the deep out or corner route attacking the seam between the corner and safety. Look for user linebackers spying the quarterback on the rollout, since a disciplined spy or contain defender can blow up the play design and force a throwaway or scramble. Beware of Cover 4 or match quarters coverage with disciplined zone drops, as the deep route gets capped and the underneath flat becomes the only real answer, so know your checkdown before the snap.
Run this after establishing HB Sweep or HB Stretch from the same set so linebackers and safeties bite on the run fake, since the play-action window only works if defenders respect the ground game tendency.
Check safety depth before the snap. If both safeties are sitting at 8 to 10 yards in a two high shell, expect the flat route to be open early against zone coverage.
Use the rollout to buy time against edge pressure. If the defense shows a wide 9 technique or edge blitz look, waggle naturally moves the quarterback away from that rush lane.
Hot route the backside receiver into a quick out or slant if you see man coverage with no safety help over the top, giving you a quick answer versus blitz.
Sequence this with PA Boot Flow and PA Mtn Power O to keep the defense guessing between waggle rollouts and the power run action, forcing linebackers to freeze on every snap.
