Mtn Slot Mid Screen is a designed screen play out of the Shotgun Bunch Quads Open set that gets the slot receiver isolated in space behind a wall of blockers up the middle of the field. The offensive line and adjacent receivers release to set screens while the slot man delays briefly before working back to the quarterback, using the bunch alignment to create natural picks and confusion for man defenders trying to trail him. This is a screen play designed to counter aggressive pass rushes and blitzes, and the primary read progression is simple: the quarterback looks to the slot screen first and only, throwing as soon as the blockers get set unless the play is blown up immediately by an unblocked defender.
