Free Fire 3 is a Cover 3 zone blitz out of the Over Wide 4-3 Base personnel that sends extra pressure off the edge while dropping into a three deep, four under zone shell behind it. The blitz is designed to disrupt the quarterback's timing before route combos develop, forcing a quick decision against a defense that still has three deep defenders splitting the field into thirds. Your primary read as the defense caller is the frontside underneath zone defender: get eyes on the flat and hook areas to squeeze any quick game while trusting the deep thirds to erase verticals.
Watch the tight end or slot receiver release pre-snap, since a quick out or hitch into the blitzing lane is the fastest way to beat this call. Identify if the offense is running four verticals or any deep crossing combo, because the three deep defenders must stay disciplined and not bite on the underneath blitz action. Key the running back on pass protection reps, since a blitz pickup assignment against your extra rusher can neutralize the pressure and give the quarterback time to find the seam behind the blitz. Post-snap, track the middle of the field for any deep dig or post route sitting behind the linebacker drops, as that is the classic hole in a Cover 3 zone blitz shell. This call gets shut down by quick game concepts like slants and stick routes that get the ball out before the pressure arrives, so disguise the blitz look until the last possible moment before the snap.
Call Free Fire 3 on early downs or second and medium when you expect a run or quick game read from the offense.
Check the offensive formation pre-snap for stacked or bunch receiver sets, since those can create natural picks against the underneath zone defenders.
User the weak side linebacker or the second level blitzer to time the snap count and disguise the pressure, showing a base look before bringing extra numbers.
Combine this call with Sam Blitz 3 to keep the same Cover 3 shell but vary which gap the pressure comes from, keeping the offensive line guessing on protection calls.
Mix in Cover 3 Sky or Cover 3 Cloud Show 2 in the same drive so the quarterback sees a similar pre-snap picture but gets a different rotation and blitz combination each time.
