Overview
The Big Nickel 4-2-5 puts two defensive ends, two defensive tackles, a middle linebacker, an outside linebacker, two cornerbacks, a free safety, and two strong safeties on the field. Replacing the slot corner with a third safety gives you a hybrid defender who can carry tight ends and big slots in man coverage and still fit the run, which makes it a strong answer to 11 and 12 personnel offenses. In Madden it shows up in the 3-3-5 Over Flex, where the flexed front disguises the rush count and forces the offense to diagnose pressure, adjust protection, and set hot routes before the snap.
Strengths

- With just two linebackers, heavy 13 or 22 personnel power runs can outnumber your box, especially if the offense motions a tight end to create an extra gap.
