Leftovers That Still Hit: Best Late-Round Gems

Thanksgiving leftovers are often better the next day. So are late-round picks if you know where to look.

Today, we'll be going over ten of my favorite players you can draft in round 30 and later, that will still bring value to your team. These are some of my personal favorites, so there may be a slight bias toward players who fit my preferred schemes.

This blog post is based on the Madden 26 Week 11 roster.

To accomplish this, I used the following features on the Madden Tools Draft Board:

  1. Add a "Draft Rounds" filter for R30 to R54.

  2. Scroll through the entire draft board and add any intriguing prospects to the Watchlist.

  3. Switch to my "Watched" players view.

  4. Scroll through and add only my top 10 favorites to my "Favorites" list.

Without further ado....

Round 30 - Samson Ebukam - LEDGE

This is a veteran pick which will provide you value for a season or two. While his earliest draft position is in Round 30, most of the time he goes in Round 53.

Ebukam is still good enough to be a spot-starter for you at EDGE if needed. He has good speed and great strength, along with solid finesse moves and block shedding.

If you loaded up on offense for most of the early draft, Ebukam can provide adequate production for a season before you draft a rookie replacement.

Round 32 - Kevin Winston Jr. - FS

This is a great value in terms of future potential - Kevin Winston is only 21 years old, already Star development, which is a great foundation to build on.

If you can let him sit on your bench for a while as you develop him, that would be ideal, as he's a little raw to start out. Give him a year or two of development though, and he'll be a great piece of your secondary.

Round 38 - Morgan Moses - RT

This is for sure a one-year rental, but Morgan Moses is a solid tackle. He can hold down the starting job if needed, but would excel as a backup swing tackle for a year.

Round 40 - Terrell Edmunds - SS

While not the prospect he once was, Terrell Edmunds is similar to his brother Tremaine in that he's a physical specimen. Terrell isn't quite on the same level as Tremaine, but he's still a hard-hitting strong safety with good size. As per the Madden Tools tags, he's got good skills relative to the other players at the same position:

In round 40, you really can't go wrong here. Yes, he's 28, but you'll get at least a couple years of solid rotational play (think 4-2-5 and big-nickel sets) or backup capability.

Round 40 - Keandre Lambert-Smith - WR

You aren't really drafting KLS to be a true receiver in the traditional sense - Where he excels is with the ball in his hands and after the catch.

With elite burst and shiftiness, and great speed, he's a threat on things like Jet Sweeps, Screens, and short quick hitting routes like drags.

He's also 23, so there's still room for some development. Since he's only normal dev, you'll likely want to focus on what he's already good at - So progressing the "Playmaker" archetype.

Round 41 - Rudy Ford - SS

I'm a big fan of Rudy Ford as a balanced veteran backup for either safety spot.

Round 48 - Shelby Harris - DT

This is another great value late in the draft for a one-year rental.

Shelby Harris is an excellent DT to rotate in to keep your line fresh and to counter OL resistance.

In round 48, you can't ask for much more than a solid situational player.

Round 48 - Justin Walley - CB

This pick is simply a developmental one - 22 years old and 71 OVR is normally a decent formula for future development.

Round 52 - Mack Hollins - WR

A shockingly good value at the end of the draft, Mack Hollins profiles as a very solid WR4.

Round 52 - Dont'e Thornton Jr. - WR

This one is arguably the most obvious choice in this list. Thornton is a physical freak, at 6'5" tall with 96 speed. He's also 22 years old and star development. What a steal.

I hope you enjoyed this Thanksgiving edition of "late round gems". Enjoy the holiday and stay tuned for more helpful tips and information to elevate your Madden skillset!
